Counselor in Training (CIT) Age 16+
The Triple-R offers the CIT position to high school students who are 16 years of age or older. The role of the CIT is essential to the functioning of camp and therefore it is imperative for the Ranch to obtain responsible, mature teenagers with good judgement and Christian vision. Our desire is to introduce the individual to the Ranch and give them first-hand experience living and working hand-in-hand with the counselors. They should have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be actively involved with a church.

The CIT's duties include:
• Living with a counselor and 12 campers.
• Assisting in teaching Bible studies.
• Assisting instructors in a skill area.
• Periodic and limited supervision of campers without the assistance of a counselor.
• Assisting in maintaining a fun, healthy, and safe environment for the campers in all phases of the program.

We offer this experience in hopes that our CITs will return as counselors in later years. Long, tough hours are expected, but the rewards are eternal. This position will challenge you to grow not only in body and mind, but most importantly- spiritually.

General Information

• At Triple-R there are various ministries and some are more obvious than others. What is not obvious and therefore often forgotten, is that we are all equal in God's eyes. We must realize that our work is done as unto the Lord. No matter how we are ministering, whether through cleaning, baling, saddling, programming, or teaching our attitude and motives are the key. Our best in any position is what the Lord desires.

• Using this information as a guide, be sure to indicate on the application form all positions you are interested in order of preference.

• Triple-R Ranch is a non-denominational Christian camp located in Chesapeake, VA. It's summer ministry is built upon a counselor-centered approach to camping. This strategy can effect an extremely fruitful ministry due to the high degree of involvement in the lives of the campers. It can also be an extremely taxing ministry. The physical activity which this demands, coupled with the Tidewater, Virginia heat, can be very draining. We hope and pray that you will weigh carefully your decision to apply for a summer staff position with us.

• Each Summer Staff member will be asked to submit a updated Medical form and Insurance form (forms provided by RRR). In the event of a medical emergency or illness which is not job related, the staff member or his/her family will be responsible for paying any expenses. Job related accidents are covered by Workman's Compensation.

Dates & Salary

All Jr. Staff members are expected to be here for the entire time they are hired unless special permission is granted by the Summer Camp Director and the immediate supervisor. Jr. Staff are expected to arrive each Sunday by 3:00 pm. and may leave following camper dismisal and after cleaning their living area. Jr. Staff are not permitted to stay on camp between camp sessions.

Although pay is provided to those age 16 or older, we desire that those who serve at the Triple-R not have pay as their incentive but rather that their insentive be to gain vital experience, responsibility, and discipline within the context of a Christian ministry. The normal taxes will be deducted from each staff member's pay and transportation to and from the camp is the staff member's responsibility. *Pay rates are as follows:

Age Pay per Week
15 Volunteer / Staff Training
16 $100 - $125 per week depending on training
